Great news – I am delighted to announce that Skin Deep Clinic now has 4 full rooms! Sally Jones moved into Clinic 2 last weekend. Sally is a local physiotherapist who has been qualified for 11 years and launched Salop Physiotherapy 3 years ago. She has a thriving business and I am delighted she has chosen Skin Deep Clinic as a base to work from. Sally says she is looking forward to welcoming patients to her new base and working from premises with like-minded people. If you’d like to know more take a look at Sally’s website Salop Physiotherapy

Fifty (… and fabulous)

I had the privilege of turning 50 last weekend. My children have always said I am pre-historic and now feel it is official! I was incredibly  touched by the number of messages, calls, cards and gifts and extend heartfelt thanks for making my day even more special. It really is possible to eat cake every day for 7 days (and some…) As one beautiful patient wrote in a card “The ultimate F word”….never a truer word spoken.  Thank you all for your good wishes and I am so looking forward to what the next decade brings for me and Skin Deep Clinic ….

Aesthetic Nursing

I wrote about becoming an aesthetic nurse in a previous blog a while ago. You can read more here . I am frequently contacted by people asking for advice how to get into aesthetic nursing and wrote this blog to help give direction. I would like to re-iterate that I will not support the provision of aesthetic medicine by none health care professionals. Even if you have completed a course and have insurance, I have very firm beliefs that aesthetic medicine should be provided by registered health care professionals only. Therefore, I will not respond to any request to prescribe, support or mentor none registered healthcare professionals who have chosen to work in aesthetics. I have been a qualified nurse for 30 years and despite being a nurse independent prescriber and completing post graduate level clinical facial anatomy and undertaking over 10,000 procedures, I still frequently refer patients to more qualified and experienced colleagues. I believe these qualifications are an absolute minimum before moving into a career in aesthetic medicine.

I am aware that there are nurses and doctors bending the prescribing rules as exposed by Save Face and reported in last weekend’s Sunday Times. This saddens yet does not totally surprise me. In life there will always be rule makers (abiders) and rule breakers. I am firmly planted in the rule abider camp.
