Sophie Dickens has just started as the newest member of the team and new nurse at Skin Deep Clinic … we took the chance to pick her brains and get to know her a bit better …

Tell us a bit about what you did before you joined Skin Deep Clinic

My career started within the NHS in 2010 working on a nephrology ward before my secondment to commence my nurse training. I went on to graduate from Staffordshire University in 2015 and qualified as a registered adult nurse. I have a background of community nursing for the past seven years. This involved managing complex and chronic illnesses in the community and working closely with GP’s and the Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

Skin Deep Dream Team! Sophie, Mitch & Wendy

Why did you decide to make the move to Skin Deep Clinic?

I have always been very passionate about nursing but I have always harboured a love for aesthetics too. I feel very lucky to be able to finally combine the two. It is a real privilege to be able help patients feel comfortable and happy within their own skin whilst improving their confidence and self-esteem. Skin Deep Clinic offers an extremely high quality and professional standard to its patients which are both values I pride myself in too.

What have you been doing since you started at the clinic?

I started at SDC in June and I now already feel so welcomed and apart of the team! What a fantastic supportive team it is too with a vast amount of experience.

So far, I have been observing Wendy in the clinic in providing her treatments and consultations to her patients. Wendy is a fantastic advanced nurse who is a fountain of knowledge and is extremely expert in her role. It is such that I feel very privileged to be learning from her.

In the coming weeks I am extremely looking forward to attending many training courses and conferences including my Profhilo training, Hydrafacial, Dermal Fillers and Botulinum Toxin. I am also extremely excited for my ZO medical skin care range training this week which is offered here at the clinic and I can’t wait to share this with the patients.

What are you looking forward to most in your role at Skin Deep Clinic?

I am always looking to grow my knowledge and skills and I am extremely excited about all the upcoming training events within the next few weeks. I am most looking forward to becoming expert in the range of skin care treatments here at SDC and being able to use this to support patients in feeling good within their own skin.

When do you start full time?

I start full time in the clinic from the end of August within the new treatment room that is almost completed! Before this time I will continue to observe Wendy in the clinic and also will have attended many training days before this time too.

Have you had any treatments yet ?

I haven’t had any yet but it’s so good to see how much confidence they give the patients at Skin Deep Clinic and I’m definitely going to book myself in over the next few months (if Wendy can find the time!) ……….. so I think first off I’d look at having a Profhilo treatment and I 100% want to try a Hydrafacial  (the results are incredible for a non-invasive treatment!).

I’d absolutely love to be able to “stop time” just because who wouldn’t love a few more extra hours in each day!

Favourite time of the day?

Sunset has always been my favourite time of the day! Especially, if I’m lucky enough to catch it on a lovely walk up the hills.
